Lift Truck Parts in More Detail
There are many components that make up a forklift. The lift truck's key components consist of the frame of the truck, the engine parts, the overhead guard, the tilt cylinders and the wheels. Additionally, a lift truck consists of various types of attachments. All the parts that make up a lift truck are all essential because they work together to make the equipment's functions possible. The next paragraphs describe several of the forklift components in detail.
The Overhead Guard - this guard forms the forklift truck's metal roof. It sits on top of the cab area and protects the machinery operator whilst he or she is sitting and driving. The overhead guard ensures that nothing falling from above onto the truck will hurt the driver or damage the controls inside the cab. The overhead guard is integral to the frame assembly on various units.
The Mast - the mast is a vertical assembly made of interlocking rails and mounted either to the forklift frame or the front axle. The mast provides lateral stability and allows the forks to move upwards and downwards. The interlocking rails could either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are two ways the mast could be operated: hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders or chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor.
Lift Truck Carriage - the forks and different other attachments are mounted to the carriage. The carriage is connected to the mast directly to the hydraulic cylinder or it is connected by chains. To be able to allow the forks to be lowered and raised, the carriage may have either bushings or rollers to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.
Load Back Rest - a back rest is a metal rack that keeps a load from falling backwards while the carriage is lifted to its full height. The back rest is either bolted or welded on to the carriage.
Forklift Attachments - a range of attachments could be fixed to the front of the lift truck. The most common kind of attachment is forks. Additionally, there are rollers, rotators, L-shaped members, pole handlers, roll clamps and and all that. These different types of attachments are helpful for moving various kinds of loads.
