During 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. During that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed clients and hence, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, as the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, as the demand for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into making articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, telehandlers and stick booms.
Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values as a result of the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered with Terex. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie equipment continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy machinery offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the equipment has to be driven significant distances, such as within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These machinery provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
