What is the Difference between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?

Amongst the most common questions regarding this kind of machine is determining the difference between pneumatic tire forklifts and cushion tire forklifts. Each tire type is particularly right for various requirements.

Similar to vehicle tires, pneumatic tires have air inside of them. These types of tires are great for indoor use but they are more useful in outdoor "yard" applications and on gravel and uneven surfaces.

Used mainly for indoor operations, the cushion tires are made just like a solid industrial tire. The tire would only be useful outdoors on asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outside, there is an option to get traction tires on the front of the equipment. These are known as the drive tires. The steer tires or the back tires are specifically made for steering. Traction tires located on the rear of the forklift would just wear out quicker. Thus, if you do need to work outdoors, having the smooth tires on the rear and traction on the front will be the safest and most economical way to operate.

What is the difference between Solid Pneumatic and Air Pneumatic tires?

It could be quite tricky when trying to determine the main distinction between the two tire types. They would work well in both in gravel and asphalt conditions. The main difference between the two kinds of tires is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means they are durable and you cannot pop, gouge and puncture them. These tires are more expensive than air pneumatic tires as they are made up of way more rubber. These kinds of tires are best suited for locations like lumber yards and scrap yards where there can be plenty of debris or sharp things on the ground.

Air pneumatic tires are able to be punctured accidentally. When this occurs, you can get flat tires from them. Prior to utilizing a forklift with air pneumatic tires, check your work space and be sure that the yard is free of nails, scrap debris and sharp metals. In most applications, regular air pneumatic tires work great.
