Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
Just as the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit while they move loads. The Rider model on the other hand, utilizes a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and transport unstable or tall loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the right answer if you are looking for a cheap method for moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specially made for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles that could work in aisles of less than six feet. They are very useful pieces of machinery in cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
