Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also called a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 pounds. Despite being sturdy and big, these industrial machines still carry the possible chance of crash or accident. To be able to be really safe, be certain to have operators wear an appropriate seat belt in the forklift and check that up to standard safety features are on board. We all know that seat belts can save lives in the event of an accident.
Three-Point Seat Belt
Three-point seat belts can extend across the upper body and over the lap. These belts offer an extra safety degree by protecting your body. They are available in both bench-seat and buckle-seat styles. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either non-retractable or retractable kinds.
Retractable seat belts are commonly used in most modern vehicles on the market. Although non-retractable kinds increase safety, retractable types offer much more comfort. It is impossible for a non-retractable seat belt to extend accidentally.
Lap belts
The type of seat belt that only extends over the lower portion of the body is a two-point lap belt. Most lap belts are non-retractable and feature a push-button closure system. In order to secure the seat belt, just press on the belt button and the two sides will separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The type of seat belt that forces a forklift operator to put on a seat belt is a circuit-closed seat belt. These seat belts have a micro-switch attached that enables an alarm to sound if an operator starts a vehicle and is not secured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both non-retractable and retractable lap-band types.
