Kinds of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machinery which allows employees to perform tasks without having to construct a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common equipment found in warehouse and factory environment also.
Normally, construction lifts provide wheeled and powered bases which are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them that is responsible for elevating personnel. There are many different kinds of lifts and every one is suited to various types of jobs and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks or cherry pickers, are built with a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where a worker may stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually use these kinds of equipment to prune trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly which is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts are able to travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they could efficiently service. This is especially essential for power companies. For example, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to raise employees up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets must be frequently inspected and well insulated since they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also referred to as "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform which is mounted on an arm that could bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and can turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Typically, the articulated boom lift is utilized for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already completed. Projects that do not need easy access right underneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas that are difficult to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
