Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually used. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
